There is nothing more disgusting than the Obama administration’s high-flying, high-tech drone campaign of indiscriminate murder and mayhem. No, wait … Actually there is one thing more disgusting — listening to otherwise intelligent journalists excusing the organized criminality of what passes for national security.
No matter how they try to gussy it up with legal gobble-de-gook, classic bureaucratic doublespeak, moralistic crap about democracy and BS euphemisms to paper over the flesh-shredding raw brutality of what they do, it all comes down to one thing and one thing only — state powered terrorism.
As Pogo used to say, “We have seen the enemy and he is us.”
(Man, I know many of you out there have no idea who Pogo was. Check it out on Google.)
When the Cheney/Bush crime crew dredged up the likes of law school professor John Yoo from the shoe bottom of academia to torture the language to justify state sponsored torture of living human flesh, liberals properly raged against the criminality. Now, however, far too many of my liberal/progressive brothers and sisters sit mute in the face of war crimes done by one of our own.
In this clip watch Newsweek liberal columnist Joe Klein defend the indefensible. At the same time, conservative television host and former Republican congressman Joe Scarborough cogently outlines the immorality of what Obama is doing (and what Cheney/Bush did) and the long-term consequences of our short-term dance with institutionalized brutality.
Liberals need to listen to Joe on this one.
The fact that the seamless Cheney/Bush/Obama war crime spree is done in our name and with our tax dollars paints us all with the guilt and shame of the crimes.
Evil does not reside in just the right, or even the left; it resides in the warped hearts and empty souls of those with unlimited power. Always question authority because too often those with that authority have gained their power by swapping away their soul in a shameless scramble up a slippery slope of the dead to the pinnacles of power.
